
Joyce Quigley, 89, passed away February 9, 2017 at home with her daughter in Indianapolis. She was born in St. Louis, Missouri, on July 25, 1927. She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry George Schroer and Ruby Myrtle Hicks Schroer; her husband, Charles Patrick Quigley; and her son, Michael Douglas Quigley.
She is survived by her son Charles Quigley of El Paso, Texas; her daughter Barbara Quigley of Indianapolis; her granddaughters Claudia Pixley (Patrick), and Carla and Delia Quigley; her great-grandchildren Charlize Lords, and Madeline and Patrick Pixley; her sister Joann Capstick; and her brother Robert Schroer.
She graduated from Ritenour High School and the University of Missouri at St. Louis. She retired as a case worker for the State of Missouri’s Division of Family Services. Her volunteer work included driving elderly people to medical appointments, teaching adults to read, tutoring children at a local school, and working at the St. Louis Science Center, the St. Louis Symphony, the St. Louis Zoo, and Laumeier Sculpture Park.
A memorial service and burial will be at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis, on Monday, March 13, 2017. Please meet in the parking lot behind the cemetery’s administration building at 10:15 a.m. Memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association or any Forest Park institution.
